DYNAMIC YOGA BASICS with Lucy Holmes



                                                   
                                                                                      
The practice of Yoga is an inquiry into development of Self, with the side benefit of enhancing strength, flexibility, and concentration. It is a way of creating a balance of energies: physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual. Using basic postures, breathing, meditation, and relaxation techniques, students gain a deeper appreciation of their potential through learning to listen to the inherent wisdom of body and breath. Interaction between students and teacher is encouraged to build a sense of community. Props and partner work are used to enhance understanding, and adaptations and modifications are offered to meet students' individual needs. Rather than emphasizing a set system, these classes invite creative exploration and building mindfulness and compassaion in a supportive yoga studio environment.

In this dynamic method, movement is incorporated to warm and prepare the body in preparation for holding static postures as well as to compensate for challenge. Flow and stillness create a balance between effort and surrender so students can settle into a place of joyful steadiness. Come and explore the journey!
